Pre-MBA Fund Associate (Midtown)

We are a leading financial institutions with over $4.0 billion of capital under management and both traditional hedge fund and a private equity vehicle. We manage over 150 investments in various stages from early to mid-stage venture through expansion stage and buyout, and in diverse sectors such as information technology, healthcare, services, industrial and others. The firm's investment strategy includes acquiring portfolios (or subsets) of private equity investments from corporations, financial institutions and investment funds and actively manage the investments through strategic advice, board representation and follow-on investments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze and evaluate new investment opportunities by conducting due diligence, researching industry sectors, interviewing management and preparing financial models;
- Interact with Partners in support of identifying, sourcing and negotiating new investment opportunities;
- Manage the firm's proprietary database of private companies;
- Monitor current developments and the performance of portfolio companies

Associates will work closely with deal teams (generally three to six professionals) and be engaged in transactions. Associates will have the opportunity to attend trade shows, speak with entrepreneurs and management, and manage portfolio company relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 0-3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity,hedge fund, leverage finance, M&A,equity research, etc
- Highly analytical and data driven with attention to details
- Solution driven approach to systems and processes
-High level of maturity and entrepreneurial zeal, with the ability to thrive in a faster-paced, less structured environment.
-Must be extremely analytical, and comfortable in both worlds of long-term equity owner, and short term value investor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Advanced computer literacy - especially Excel
- Successful candidates must have a proven track record of leadership skills, and have a strong record of academic achievement; preference given to those with a quantitative major such as finance, accounting, engineering or mathematics
