Field Measurer - Construction surveying (NYC)

Steel alteration construction company seeks qualified and experienced person to field measure and sketch existing field conditions as they relate to the particular steel product we install. We fabricate and install custom made steel products such as stairs and railings, along with many different types of structural steel supports (such as steel beams to frame floor openings, and, supports for air conditioning equipment on roofs.)

PLEASE NOTE: Though we use surveying instruments this is not strictly a "surveying" job. We don't survey land or property lines. What we measure (mostly) is interior existing steel framing in commercial buildings.

Job includes some site coordination/meetings with architects, engineers and client supervisors. CAD knowledge and experience is a plus but not required.

Applicant should have a logical approach to problem solving, be well versed in general construction practices, have a good working knowledge of construction conditions in the field, and be able to use a laser level, tape measure, etc, sketch, and attend job meetings. Our jobs are not too complicated but they do require a lot of thought and logic and the ability to intelligently convey information taken from the field.

Education or experience in architecture or structural steel engineering would be helpful but please keep in mind this is not an architecture position. Our work is very specific to the field of steel alterations.

Experience in other trades (than steel construction) may be applicable.

We are close to very convenient subway and bus lines and we offer excellent pay and benefits.
