Seek assistant / stylist for antique dealer (NYC)
A assistant/stylist is needed for a dealer of 20th century furniture and decoration, who has booths in antique centers in the metro area.
Primary tasks:
--Style and arrange small pieces of furniture and decorative accessories, including rotating stock for the smaller decorative pieces
--Hang and place wall sconces, mirrors and chandeliers
--Replace light bulbs as needed
--Verify and replace merchandise tags as needed
--Select floor coverings and wall colors
--Assist in collection, unpacking and storage of new purchases
--Prepare items for delivery to booths in antique malls
--Prepare items for sale at auction houses
--List and sell items on ebay
--Package and ship by post or UPS items sold on ebay
--Assist in set up and placement of items during photo shoots
Tasks assigned will vary depending on the current projects and the skills of the person hired. In the beginning I anticipate approximately 5 hours of work per week.
Over time, the workload will develop according to the skills, talents and enthusiasm of the person hired.
This position could be ideal for a student of interior design or recent graduate. This position could also be a good match for someone like an actor, photographer, freelancer, stay at home parent, etc. – someone for whom part time work fits into their plans for the near future. Work will be paid at an hourly rate of $20. The work is of an indefinite duration. Use of a car would be a great help for bringing new merchandise to centers, as well as removing pieces, although certainly not necessary. More important is talent, enthusiasm, and finding the right person. Please send me a note indicating your interest, relevant experience and computer skills.
