Exceptional opportunity for an experienced executive to direct the Managed Markets Contracting Operation of this leading pharmaceutical company.
THE COMPANY
U.S.-based NYSE-traded company develops, manufactures and markets prescription pharmaceutical products primarily for central nervous system, cardiovascular and pain disorders. THE POSITION
Directs the entire Contracting unit, including commercial, Government, operations and all reimbursement and associated analytical functions. Includes contract assessments across all classes of trade, commercial and Government. Government Contracting includes Medicare, VA, DoD and State Medicaid contracting and all required pricing and reporting. Position is also responsible for analysis and operations, including compliance and systems. The primary responsibilities or objectives of the position are to formulate strategy in the areas of responsibility, to build consensus among key members of sales, marketing and finance, to persuasively present major strategy proposals to the most senior members of management, and to execute effectively. This leader will be responsible for a staff of approximately 25 people, who are based in New York and St. Louis. The position reports to the Vice President, Managed Markets, Government & Policy. It is based at headquarters in New York, NY.

Skills
The ideal candidate brings 15 plus years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience and in-depth knowledge of branded or specialty pharmaceuticals. Generic pharmaceutical experience may also be helpful, although the Company is primarily a brand pharmaceutical company. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated record of past success and the interpersonal, strategic and analytical skills to add exceptional value and have an impact in this rapidly changing segment of the Company’s business. He or she is proactive, hands on in their day to day approach to the job, able to manage multiple priorities and possessing outstanding people skills. Furthermore, the ideal candidate is comfortable and effective in dealing with C-level Marketing, Sales and Finance executives in the Company and, externally, with FDA and Formulary Committees. Educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree. An MBA is a decided plus.
