POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

Under supervision, the Employment Specialist provides vocational counseling and career development information to students seeking employment. He/she provides basic job search skills; assesses transferable skills; assists in vocational planning; provides job development training and other referrals; counsels students with barriers to employment; and provides follow-up services as needed. The Employment Specialist also promotes BEOC services to the community and other interested parties.


• Establish contact and build working relationships with area employers.
• Maintain employer relationships and develop data base and job bank containing employer details.
• Conduct direct job placement in coordination with student and employer.
• In accordance with institutional program guidelines, conduct post job placement follow-up with students and employers at prescribed intervals.
• Monitor post placement retention and document.

• Assess students’ ongoing employment needs, including opportunities for job upgrades, vocational training and career development opportunities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and four years experience required; Master’s degree preferred. Demonstrated record of job placement of entry-level IT positions; job development experience with an educational or non-profit organization.
